1. iPhone Projectors: Sure, everyone is talking about Apple's impending announcement (the company is holding a press conference today at 1pm ET), but we're interested in a new iPhone case which turns your phone into a handheld projector. Manufacturer Aiptek introduced the MobileCinema i15, which allows users to display iPhone images on a wall (enlarged by up to 60 inches), at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. According to Mashable, the gadget, which is designed to work with the iPhone 5, is expected to retail for around $350 and is currently marketed to European markets, but will eventually be made available in the U.S. It sure would expand the definition of home theater.

2. "Fear and Desire": Kubrick fans, rejoice! The director's rarely seen first feature, "Fear and Desire" will be available in 75 countries via iTunes thanks to a deal with Apple and Italian specialty distributor Raro Video.  The film will be subtitled in 25 languages, according to Variety. The iTunes release is planned for November and the distributor said this could be the first of other Raro titles going out via iTunes. Ironically, Kubrick never wanted his first film to be seen. Will you check it out anyway?

3. AOL On: For the first time, AOL has acquired a feature film, "Downloaded" directed by Alex Winter, to stream for free on their video platform, AOL On. Produced by VH1 Rock Docs, the film will be available through the AOL On app on mobile devices and TV, as well as AOL brand channels such as Moviefone, Cambio and Mandatory. The film takes viewers behind the scenes of the rise and fall of NapsterRead more about the film here.

4. Vimeo Upgrades: Vimeo announced several new upgrades to its growing direct distribution platform, Vimeo On Demand, available to any Vimeo PRO member. The new features allow creators to offer viewers to rent (stream) or buy (download) content at separate prices. Vimeo also now enables sellers to make content available for pre-order and to create promo codes to allow viewers to access work for free. There's also advanced analytics for sellers. All good stuff!

5. Yahoo Video App: Yahoo, which announced its fall programming lineup yesterday, also unveiled a new app, The Yahoo Screen mobile app, which provides consumers with access to the same content as the website -- including archival clips of "Saturday Night Live," episodes of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," and new video content, such as "Ghost Ghirls," "Losing it With John Stamos" and "Tiny Commando." "We want Yahoo Screen to be a place where you can customize your experience to your liking while continually discovering new things to watch and share," Robby Stein, director of product management, said in a Tumblr post.
