The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs Karen O visited the KCRW studio earlier today to perform "The Moon Song" from "Her," which is up for Best Original Song at this year's Academy Awards. Writer/director/producer Spike Jonze, and production designer KK Barrett provided vocal and acoustic accompaniment for O during this morning's performance on the KCRW show Morning Becomes Eclectic.

During the trio's interview with KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley, Jonze talked about the collaborative spirit that not only characterized the conception of "The Moon Song," but also shaped the production of "Her" as a whole.

"With this song Karen and I actually worked on two songs together -- one that didn't make the movie," he said. "Karen and I have worked on loads of things together: for her band, The Yeah, Yeah Yeahs and for 'Where the Wild Things Are,' she wrote the score for our movie. I don't know, we all sort of work together in this very unique way in terms of the friendships we have and the intimacy of the collaboration."
