Film Buff has picked up worldwide digital distribution rights to the romantic dramedy, "6 Month Rule,' from writer/director Blayne Weaver ("Weather Girl"). The film will also have a theatrical run through distributor Abramorama, starting June 1 in New York and June 8 in Los Angeles.

"6 Month Rule" revolves around a bachelor (played by Weaver) who follows a set of self imposed rules in order to avoid emotional attachment, the most important being: there is no woman so perfect you can't get over her in six months. Yeah, right.

(LOS ANGELES, CA – March 19, 2012)FilmBuff picked up worldwide digital distribution rights for Blayne Weaver’s romantic dramedy, 6 Month Rule.  Weaver (Weather Girl) leads a talented ensemble cast that includes Martin Starr (Party Down, Adventureland), Natalie Morales (Parks and Recreation, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), Patrick J. Adams (Suits, Weather Girl), Vanessa Branch (Pirates of the Caribbean), John Michael Higgins (Bad Teacher, A Mighty Wind), Dave Foley (News Radio, The Kids in the Hall) and Jaime Pressly (My Name Is Earl).

Written and directed by Weaver, 6 Month Rule is a romantic, charming, and poignant look at relationships seen through the eyes of Tyler. The character lives by a personal philosophy that allows him to avoid making any significant connections with women. He frequently boasts that he can get over any woman in 6 months or less, denying his fear of emotional attachment. His best friend (Martin Starr) has just become Tyler’s pet project, as he tries to teach his buddy about the joys of cold-hearted bachelorhood. Will Tyler ultimately discover that no philosophy is set in stone?

6 Month Rulewill be released theatrically beginning in New York on June 1st & Los Angeles June 8th, with additional cities to follow through the distributor Abramorama. Richard Abramowitz will be overseeing the limited theatrical; FilmBuff will then release the film onto all major digital platforms in July 2012.

“We are thrilled to be bringing 6 Month Rule to digital audiences this summer.  The human way in which Blayne examines love and friendship really spoke to us, and we’re confident that these themes will resonate with audiences.” said Steven Beckman, FilmBuff’s Head of Acquisitions. “In a distribution landscape in which all of the rules have changed, we are committed to releasing 6 Month Rule through innovative, exciting outlets.“

The film is a coproduction from Blayne Weaver’s Secret Identity Productions and Steakhaus Productions. Past projects include the Sundance film By Hook or by Crook, the documentary For the Love of Dolly and Weaver’s Weather Girl

"We're thrilled to be working with FilmBuff to reach such a wide audience for 6 Month Rule" says the film’s producer Steak House.

Jeremy Tenser negotiated the deal with Steven Beckman of FilmBuff. For more information on 6 Month Rule visit www.6monthrulemovie.com.
