Distributor 7-57 Releasing has picked up rights to Manny Perez and Josh Crook’s Dominican action thriller "La Soga" from its producers. Antena Latina Films will be handling distribution in the Dominican Republic with Cynthia Wiesner of Wiesner Distribution handling Puerto Rico where it will open August 12th. 7-57 will open the film the following day in the States in what it called an "aggressive platform release."

Specialized Independent veterans Steven Raphael (Required Viewing) and MJ Peckos (Mitropoulos Films) will consult on all marketing and distribution elements for the North American theatrical release.

"La Soga" is set in The Dominican Republic and tells the story of a brave cop who risks everything in order to find justice. A visceral story of redemption set in the underworld of a brutal Latin American corrupt government, the glossy 35mm film is shot in color in the Dominican Republic and Washington Heights, NY.

The Spanish-language film stars Manny Perez, Denise Quiñones, Juan Fernandez, Paul Calderon, Hemky Madera, Joseph Lyle Taylor and Margo Martindale. The film is Written by Manny Perez, Directed by Josh Crook and produced by Manny Perez, Josh Crook and Jeff Crook.

“We are thrilled to be involved with Manny and Josh on their dynamic film 'La Soga,'" commented 7-57 partner Jesse Scolaro in a statement. "We fell in love with the film when we first saw it and are thrilled to be bringing it to audiences worldwide this summer."

7-57 Releasing was founded in 2009 as a joint venture between The 7th Floor and 57th and Irving production companies to distribute films theatrically in North America and handle worldwide sales.
