Get excited: According to The Playlist, Lars von Trier will bring an extended director's cut of "Nymphomaniac, Vol. II" to the Toronto International Film Festival. Already released earlier this year, the second part of von Trier's epic tale commencing with a two year-old's discovery of her "cunt" will be given an additional hour of material. Volume One premiered at the Berlin Film Festival back in February. To be clear, The Toronto International Film Festival has not yet announced any films for the 2014 Festival, so nothing's for sure (but we can hope!).
Will von Trier simply give us more of Joe's (Charlotte Gainsbourg) tenderness for Jamie Bell's whip-wielding sadist or scenes with her young, double-crossing protégé? Will we see more of her neglected infant son and increasingly distanced and hateful boyfriend (Shia LeBeouf)? Or will the director's cut attempt to haunt us with new, possibly even more darkly comic and debasing sexual anecdotes? Sadly, we will have to wait until September to find out.
