When a movie blends cgi visual effects with the natural landscape in such a way as to make them seamless, then special recognition should be given. John Carter is one such movie. I have not yet seen the Hobbit and I am sure the effects will be excellent. But I was really impressed with the dying world of Barsoom (Mars) as created by Andrew Stanton and his team.

Many wonderful movies are up for 'Visual Effects.' But the one that stands out most to me is John Carter. The 'Visual Effects' in John Carter were brilliant. It was a pleasure to watch that movie many times and just for those visuals alone. Although the storyline, the cast, the characters, and direction were also fantastic. In my book, John Carter would definitely get my vote.
