The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences today announced the recipients of its Academy Foundation's annual Institutional Grants program, awarding $500,000 to 73 film-related nonprofit organizations, up from 64 last year, and the largest number of recipients in this category to date.

The Institutional Grants program is one of many such programs operated by the Academy Foundation. According to the AMPAS website, the aim of the program is to "assist in fostering educational activities between the public and the film industry while encouraging the appreciation of motion pictures as both an art form and a vocation." To this end, a number of university internship programs are among the grant recipients, in addition to job training and educational programs, workshops, and filmmaker residencies run by various film institutions, festivals, libraries, and museums.

Following is the full list of 2010–2011 Academy Foundation Institutional Grants recipients, and the programs being funded, as provided by AMPAS.
