"Project Greenlight," the acclaimed documentary series which chronicles the search for a first-time director as well as exploring the process of getting films made, is coming back for a new season. HBO President Michael Lombardo announced the series will be returning to the premium cable network after more than a decade off the air.

"'Project Greenlight' was ahead of its time," noted Ben Affleck. "Now that technology has caught up to the concept, we thought it was a perfect time to bring it back. A whole new generation of filmmakers has grown up sharing everything, and the next big director could be just an upload away. It is really great having 'Project Greenlight' back at HBO."

Putting the entire filmmaking process on display, HBO's series depicts a raw and uncensored look at the adversity that first-time directors face. The show begins with a digital competition, following the winner from pre-production, through principal photography, and into post-production. Strapped with a professional script and insulated by a team of professionals, the director must learn to cope with all the pressures surrounding a film production and try to deliver the film on time and on budget.

Matt Damon said, "Project Greenlight works -- careers have been launched and sustained as a direct result of this contest. Pete Jones, John Gulager, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are just a few of the 'PGL' alums who’ve gone on to do great things in Hollywood, and Ben and I are really proud of that."

Affleck and Damon served as executive producers on the first two seasons under their production company, Pearl Street Films. They're set to return as well as more original members from Adaptive Studios as well as Miramax's Zanne Devine.
