AFI Name Their Top 10 Films and TV Programs of 2013; '12 Years,' 'Her' and 'Scandal' Make Cut

The American Film Institute today announced their top 10 films and television programs of the year, ones they deem "culturally and artistically representative of the year's most significant achievements in the art of the moving image."

AFI's top 10 movies of the year in alphabetical order:

"12 Years a Slave"
"American Hustle"
"Captain Phillips"
"Fruitvale Station"
"Inside Llewyn Davis"
"Saving Mr. Banks"
"The Wolf of Wall Street"

Kerry Washington in 'Scandal' ABC

And their top TV programs of the year in alphabetical order:

"The Americans"
"Breaking Bad"
"Game of Thrones"
"The Good Wife"
"House of Cards"
"Mad Men"
"Masters of Sex"
"Orange is the New Black"

"AFI AWARDS is a moment for the most accomplished storytellers 0f 2013 to pause and be appreciated -- not as competitors, but as a community," said Bob Gazzale, AFI President & CEO. "Acknowledging their collective contributions to America's rich cultural legacy is both AFI's national mandate -- and our honor." AFI will honor the creative ensembles for each of the selections at an invitation-only luncheon on Friday, January 10, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.

    I simply cannot understand how some biopic bullshit like "Saving Mr. Banks" can be considered better than The Place Beyond The Pines. Thanks for glorifying shitty biopics made after a pattern proven successful amongst simpletons Hollywood.
