AFI FEST 2005 has selected actor Johnny Depp for this year's tribute. The tribute to Depp will take place at ArcLight Hollywood on Friday, November 11th, followed by the world premiere of The Weinstein Company's "The Libertine," by Laurence Dunmore starring Depp, Samantha Morton and John Malkovich, as part of the festival's Special Screening series. The film is Dunmore's directorial debut. Depp will make the rare appearance in an on-stage conversation with film critic, commentator and author Richard Schickel. The event will also include a career montage, and a series of clips examining the actor's work. The tribute is made possible through a collaborative partnership with the Skirball Cultural Center. AFI FEST will take place November 3 - 13 in Hollywood. [Brian Brooks]
