Anchor Bay Films has announced it has acquired theatrical and DVD distribution rights to Odd Lot Entertainment and Perfect Weekend's "The Open Road," starring Jeff Bridges, Justin Timberlake, Harry Dean Stanton, and Mary Steenburgen. "Road" was written and directed by Michael Meredith, and executive produced by Wim Wenders.
"We are honored to distribute Michael Meredith's intensely moving film, 'The Open Road,'" said Anchor Bay Entertainment President, Bill Clark, in a statement. "Not only do we believe in its powerful story, but it stars a great cast including the tremendous Jeff Bridges."
The film follows Carlton Garrett (Timberlake), who upon learning of his mother's (Steenburgen) sudden heart condition, attempts to fulfill her dying wish by bringing his estranged father (Bridges) to the hospital before the operation.
The deal was negotiated by Clark and Kevin Kasha for Anchor Bay Films and Hal Sadoff and Jessica Lacy on behalf of ICM with Brian O'Shea for Odd Lot Entertainment.
