>> Alison Anders ("Gas Food Lodging," "Mi Vida Loca") has been tapped to
guest curate the Sundance Channel's lineup of "Docs That Rock," set to
air on the cable and satellite channel in July. In addition to helping
to select the docs airing throughout the month, Anders will also appear
on the channel to discuss the films and conduct interviews with people
involved in the making of the films.

The lineup of films include the television premiere of Doug Pray's
Sundance screener "Hype!"; "X: The Unheard Music," a look at this seminal
Los Angeles punk band; D.A. Pennebaker's "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders
from Mars
"; Andrew Behar's, "Tie Died: Rock n' Roll's Most Dedicated Fans";
"Rude Boy" by Jack Hazan and David Mingay; and David Markey's "1991: The
Year That Punk Broke
." In addition, Sundance will be airing the television
premiere of Anders' UCLA film school project, "Border Radio."

>> On July 17th, TNT's Rough Cut Online and New Line Cinema will launch the
Rough Cut Screenplay Challenge, an opportunity for aspring screenwriters
to collaborate online with screenwriter David S. Goyer, writer of the
upcoming New Line film "Blade," as well as "The Crow: City of Angels"
and "Dark City." The contest will begin with Goyer posting the first ten
pages of an original science fiction screenplay. These pages will set
the scene and introduce the characters, setting the direction for the
story. Contestants will then be asked to submit the next ten pages,
continuing the story. Each week a panel of judges will chose the best
submission and post those pages online. Each week's winner will receive
an unspecified prize. To complete the contest, Goyer will read all of
the submissions, adding the final five pages to complete the screenplay
which is estimated to end up running from 100-120 pages. Complete rules
will be posted shortly by TNT Rough Cut along with an entry form.

>> Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation, Canadian parent company of
US-based Lions Gate Films, has entered into an agreement to purchase
International Movie Group, Inc. (IMG), an L.A. - based independent
distributor. IMG currently owns the distribution rights to 32 films, 12
of which we co-financed and co-produced with French entertainment giant
Canal Plus. The deal is for IMG's shareholders to be paid approximately
1.4 million shares of Lions Gate common shares, with the deal hinging on
the approval if IMG's shareholders. However, shareholders of IMG
currently holding a majority of outstanding shares have entered into
agreements committing themselves to vote in favor of the sale.

>> Longtime distribution vet Jack Foley is leaving his position as head
film buyer for New York City-based City Cinemas, owner of NYC staple
indie house Angelika Film Center, to join October Films, according to
the Hollywood trades. Before he landed at City Cinemas, Foley was
president of distribution at Miramax Films and prior to that he headed
up MGM/US's distribution operations. Foley will join October's existing
distribution team of senior vp of theatrical distribution Michael
Silberman and West Coast distribution executive Rob Schulze. The two
will report to Foley.
