The Phoenix Film Project is now an official chapter of the nationally known filmmakers organization, Independent Feature Project, the organization announced Thursday. The Phoenix Film Project will now be known as IFP Phoenix. Headquartered in New York, IFP also serves independent filmmakers in local communities. IFP chapters exist in Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Seattle. Executive directors of all four branches unanimously approved Phoenix becoming a chapter. "It's great that the Phoenix Film community has grown enough to be recognized nationally," commented Chris LaMont, president of the Phoenix Film Foundation in a statment. "Arizona's independent filmmakers will really benefit with the presence of IFP Phoenix and the impact will be felt immediately with [the organization's] resources and national film opportunities."
