Arthouse Films Weighs in on Norman Foster Doc

Arthouse Films has just picked up North American, New Zealand and Australian rights for “How Much Does Your Building Weigh Mr. Foster?” The feature documentary from filmmakers Carlos Carcas and Norberto Lopez Amado follows the rise of world-renowned architect Norman Foster, the man behind high-profile buildings like New York’s Hearst Building and the Beijing Airport.

Arthouse Films has just picked up North American, New Zealand and Australian rights for “How Much Does Your Building Weigh Mr. Foster?” The feature documentary from filmmakers Carlos Carcas and Norberto Lopez Amado follows the rise of world-renowned architect Norman Foster, the man behind high-profile buildings like New York’s Hearst Building and the Beijing Airport.

The deal was negotiated by David Koh & Stanley Buchthal on behalf of Arthouse Films & Dakota Group Ltd. and Elena Ochoa Foster of Art Commissioners and Ivorypress on behalf of the Producers and Directors.

"We are very proud and excited to help present this wonderful film on architect Norman Foster to audiences and look forward to working with the producers and directors," Koh and Buchtal said in a statement.

The film is slated for a theatrical release later this year with a DVD and digital release also coming from the Arthouse Films label.

Doc on World Renowned Architect Norman Foster

Berlin Film Festival - February 14, 2011 - Arthouse Films announced today that it has acquired all North American and Australian & New Zealand rights to the feature documentary film How Much Does Your Building Weigh Mr. Foster? by Carlos Carcas and Norberto Lopez Amado. The deal was negotiated by David Koh & Stanley Buchthal on behalf of Arthouse Films & Dakota Group Ltd. and Elena Ochoa Foster of Art Commissioners and Ivorypress on behalf of the Producers and Directors. Arthouse Films plans a theatrical release later this year with a dvd & digital release on the Arthouse Films label. This UK & Spanish Co-Production was Directed by Norberto Lopez Amado and Carlos Carcas. Produced by Deyan Sudjic. Cinematography by Valentin Alvarez. Music by Joan Valent. Co-Produced by Andres Santana and Imanol Uribe.

How Much Does Your Buidling Weigh traces the rise of one of the world’s premiere architects, Norman Foster and his unending quest to improve the quality of life through design. Portrayed are Foster’s origins and how his dreams and influences inspired the design of emblematic projects such as the largest building in the world Beijing Airport, the Reichstag, the Hearst Building in New York and works such as the tallest bridge ever in Millau France. In the very near future, the majority of mankind will abandon the countryside and live entirely in cities. Foster offers some striking solutions to the problems that this historic event will create. Features Norman Foster, Anish Kapoor, Jean-Claude and Christo, Richard Serra, Cai Guo Qiang, Richard Long, Ricky Burdett, and others.
