(Los Angeles, October 3, 2011)—The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has announced the election of three new members to its Board of Trustees: Mark Attanasio, founder and managing director of Crescent Capital Corp. and principal owner of Major League Baseball team Milwaukee Brewers; Lyn Davis Lear, an activist, philanthropist, and co-founder of Environmental Media Association; and Bryan Lourd, a partner and managing director of Creative Artists Agency.

“I am thrilled to welcome Mark Attanasio, Lyn Davis Lear, and Bryan Lourd to LACMA’s growing Board of Trustees,” said Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director. “Each brings unique and significant experience from the worlds of entertainment or sports, as well as a passion for the arts and the community.”

Co-Chairs of LACMA’s Board of Trustees Andy Gordon and Terry Semel added, “LACMA’s Board of Trustees continues to become ever more dynamic and exciting, as the addition of Mark, Lyn, and Bryan demonstrate. We could not be happier that these three individuals have come into the fold at LACMA.”

Mark Attanasio

Mark Attanasio is founder and managing director of the Los Angeles-based investment management firm Crescent Capital Corp. Since 2005, he has been both principal owner of the Milwaukee Brewers and a part-owner of the American Hockey League team Milwaukee Admirals.

He and his wife, Debbie, are longtime LACMA benefactors, having supported acquisitions for the museum’s collections of Prints and Drawings and Decorative Arts and Design; they are also sponsors of the upcoming exhibition California Design, 1930–1965: “Living in a Modern Way,” opening October 1. They are also major supporters of the Brewers Community Foundation and the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Attanasio serves on the Board of Trustees of Heal the Bay, the United Way of Milwaukee, the Greater Milwaukee Committee, Harvard-Westlake School, and the President's Leadership Council at Brown University. He received his AB from Brown University and his JD from Columbia University School of Law.

Lyn Davis Lear

Lyn Davis Lear is an activist and philanthropist. In 1989, she co-founded Environmental Media Association (EMA), a non-profit organization created to inspire and coordinate an entertainment industry response to global environmental crisis. EMA educates and motivates members of the creative community to incorporate environmental themes and issues into television programming and films.

Lear also joined the Board of Trustees for the Sundance Institute “to promote independent film and the arts.” At LACMA, she has contributed toward acquisitions through the 2011 Collectors Committee and supported the museum by attending the gala events celebrating the openings of the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion in 2010 and the Broad Contemporary Art Museum in 2008.

Lear is a native Californian and a product of the California State University system. She has a master’s degree in child development, is a licensed marriage family therapist, and holds a PhD in clinical psychology. She and husband Norman Lear, television writer and producer, reside in Los Angeles, California, and are both avid collectors of twentieth-century modern art.

Bryan Lourd

Bryan Lourd is a partner and managing director of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), an entertainment and sports agency based in Los Angeles with offices in New York, London, Nashville, and Beijing. CAA represents many of the most successful professionals working in film, television, music, theater, video games, sports, and design. Lourd personally represents many of the world’s leading actors, actresses, directors, and producers.

CAA has also been noted for its extensive contemporary art collection, with many works on view in its Los Angeles office. Created by Lourd and his partners, the CAA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the agency, has long supported arts education in Los Angeles.

Lourd is a member of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities (PCAH). He is an American Film Institute (AFI) trustee and is on the boards of InterActiveCorp (IAC) and the J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO). Lourd is a New Iberia, Louisiana, native and holds a BA from USC’s Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism.

The three new members bring the current number of LACMA’s trustees to sixty-four, with fifty-three voting members and eleven life trustees.
