Production and distribution company Cactus Three (C3) have branched off to form a new film finishing fund for documentaries and independent films, along with Canadian film financier John Margetis of Liquid Productions. The fund will target five to seven projects in post-production per year, with finishing funds for each individual project expected to be as much as $100K for post-production. Filmmakers wishing to be considered are expected to submit a proposal as well as footage or a rough cut.
"As executive producers we understand the importance of a fund to help those creating the best in their genre to realize their creative visions," said Caroline Stevens, C3 co-founder and executive producer. "Too often even the best filmmakers are crippled by the inability to complete production financing and this fund is specifically aimed to redress this situation."
C3 is currently looking at films in submission for the 2011 Sundance Film Festival as their first opportunities to leverage the fund's resources.
