Michael Moore will screen his latest film, "Capitalism: A Love Story," in a pre-New York Film Festival premiere on September 21, 2009. Moore's screening will be followed by an audience discussion with the director moderated by Tina Brown, Co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Beast.

"Twenty years after my first film had its American premiere at the New York Film Festival," Moore said in a statement, referencing "Roger & Me"'s premiere at the fest in 1989, "I am honored to be asked to return to this great event which launched my career as a filmmaker. And it is fitting that this premiere take place in the city where the movie is set -- the nerve center of American capitalism, New York City," said Moore. "It is the scene of the crime -- and the only thing in New York that tops a perp walk on Wall Street is a red carpet in Lincoln Center."

EDITOR'S NOTE: "Roger & Me" had its US premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, despite Mr. Moore's suggestion otherwise

"Capitalism" examines "the disastrous impact that corporate dominance and out-of-control profit motives have on the lives of Americans and citizens of the world."

"We are delighted to premiere important new works by both Michael Moore and Alain Resnais in one week," Executive Director of The Film Society Mara Manus said in a statement. "Both are genuine groundbreakers," referring to the fact that the 87-year old French Director whose film Wild Grass will kick-off the New York Film Festival on Opening Night, September 25th.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center presents the internationally renowned New York Film Festival each year. "Capitalism"'s pre-festival premiere is the first of its kind. Overture Films will release Capitalism: A Love Story on Wednesday, September 23rd in New York and Los Angeles. The film will be in theatres nationwide on October 2nd.
