The Long Island fest, which runs October 4-8, is in its 20th year.

“As we begin our season of celebrating HIFF’s 20th Anniversary year, we are looking forward to strong events both in New York and in the Hamptons,” said executive director Karen Arikian. “These two noteworthy happenings are just the first in a series of summer screenings perfectly launching what will be a significant year for HIFF.”

Burwell has scored films such as “Blood Simple,” “This Boy’s Life,” “Fargo,” “Gods and Monsters,” “Being John Malkovich,” “Three Kings,” “The Kids Are All Right” and the upcoming Warner Bros. crime film “Gangster Squad.” In 2000, he collaborated with Almereyda on his modern-day update of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” Their MoMA Film Plus Program discussion, titled “Common Language: The Art of Composing For Film,” will include film clips and focus on how directors and composers work together.

The Marder Gallery series, “Films on the Haywall,” will kick off June 15 with “Being There” and run through Labor Day. “Sullivan’s Travels” will screen June 22 in partnership with non-profit organization FilmAid.

The festival’s summer documentary series program will be released shortly.
