Celluloid Dreams, the international production and sales outfit also behind this year's "Crazy Horse" and "Chicken With Plums," has international sales rights to Dan Algrant's "Greetings from Tim Buckley," set to star Penn Badgley as Jeff Buckley.
The film follows Jeff Buckley as he performs a tribute his father at a now-legendary concert at St. Ann's Church that cemented Tim Buckley's legacy and launched his son to short-lived stardom.
The film, written by Algrant with David Brendel and Emma Sheanshing, is currently shooting in New York City, and is being produced by Smuggler Films and A-Z Prods.
“We are thrilled Celluloid Dreams came on board. We are truly proud of this project and knew they were the perfect partner in making sure "Greetings from Tim Buckley" found the right home.” said Patrick Millings Smith of Smuggler Films.
Editor's note: We were notified by the film's reps that the deal calls for international, not worldwide, rights; we've made that correction to the story. However, the original press release is below.
