“Children,” “Treeless” Win At Asian-Pacific Fest

The 2009 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival celebrated the close of its 25th Anniversary edition by handing out awards in a variety of categories. Tze Chun’s “Children of Invention” and So Yong Kim’s “Treeless Mountain” were the big winners, with “Children” taking Grand Jury Prize for Outstanding Fiction Film honors as well as acting awards for its two young stars, Michael Chen and Crystal Chiu, while “Mountain” was honored with the Outstanding Director Award as well as awards for its young stars, Hee Yeon Kim and Song Hee Kim. Additionally, Christopher Wong’s “Whatever It Takes” won both the audience award and Grand Jury Prize in the documentary categories. The full list of fest winners is below.
