"What Tomorrow Brings"
In the remote village of Deh Subz,
Afghanistan, the first girl's school opens - challenging centuries of
conservative social tradition. The story of the Zabuli School unfolds at
a time when the entire region faces an uncertain fate. As President
Obama announces a 2014 deadline for U.S. withdrawal, a rising fear
gathers over a resurgence of oppressive Taliban force. Against this
harrowing backdrop, the feature-length documentary WHAT TOMORROW
BRINGS traces the interconnected stories of students, teachers, village
elders, families, and tenacious school founder Razia Jan, building a
layered portrait of a community caught between its past and its future.

About the Production:
For Director Beth Murphy this is not only a
film – this is a long-term commitment to the women and girls of
developing countries—people who endure violence and are denied basic
human needs and rights. While filming in Afghanistan for the feature
documentary BEYOND BELIEF (Tribeca Film Festival, Sundance Channel),
Murphy witnessed the daily struggle of girls literally dying to be
educated. Since then, Murphy has made a personal commitment to return to
Afghanistan and share with the world her conviction that if girls are
educated and financially empowered, the roots of terrorism are less
likely to grow.
