The night in general had very few surprises, though best actress winner Meryl Streep was a definite upset over Viola Davis. Other acting winners included the expected trio of Jean Dujardin, Christopher Plummer and Octavia Spencer. Plummer was notably the oldest acting winner ever at age 82.
"A Separation" and "Undefeated" won foreign language film and documentary feature, respectively, while "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" offered one more upset by taking best film editing over best picture nominees "The Artist" and "Hugo." It was the second consecutive win in the category for Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter, who won last year for "The Social Network."
