Congrats to 'Jaya,' Indiewire's Project of the Week!

Still from "JAYA"

Thanks to your votes, the narrative about Mumbai gang film "Jaya" won this weekend’s Project of the Week contest!

Congratulations to "Jaya" director Puja Maewal. The filmmaker will receive a digital distribution consultation from SnagFilms and the film is now officially a candidate for Project of the Month. That winner will be awarded with a consultation from the Tribeca Film Institute.
Here's what the project's about:

JAYA is inspired by the true story of a teenage girl in a Mumbai street gang, who masquerades as a boy and makes a living as a thief, until the day she encounters a man who may be her long-lost father. This is a point of view never before seen on film.

More Projects of the Day coming this week. Want your project to be considered? Tell us all about it.

I just wanted to post a correction: JAYA is a fiction film (not documentary), though it is inspired by a real girl. Thanks!
