Controversial “Death” Screens Today
by indieWIRE (September 10, 2006)
The controversial “Death of a President” premieres today at the Toronto International Film Festival. CBC reports that writer-director Gabriel Range has already received death threats, though the film has yet to screen anywhere. The film was referred to as “D.O.A.P.” on the festival’s program to “keep the nature of the project quiet until closer to the screening”. “President” fictionally observes the assassination of U.S. President George W. Bush in 2007 at a violent anti-war protest. [Peter Knegt] |
