Corrente's "Providence" Picked By Miramax

by indieWIRE

Miramax Films acquired worldwide rights to "Outside Providence,"
directed by Providence-native Michael Corrente, whose previous credits
include "Federal Hill" and "American Buffalo." "Outside Providence" was
written by Corrente, Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly and is based on
the latter's novel of the same name. Bobby and Peter Farrelly's previous
credits include writing "Dumb and Dumber" (with Bennett Yellin, Peter
also directed) and directing "Kingpin". "Providence" is a coming of age
story, set in the 70's, starring Shawn Hatosy, Amy Smart, Alec Baldwin
and George Wendt.

In a prepared statement, Miramax Co-Chairman Harvey Weinstein said,
"Michael and I have been trying to work together for a long time." We
are thrilled to be in business with him on this hilarious and touching
film, and to establish a long term relationship with the director,
writer and producer of this extraordinary work."
