Crackle Greenlights a Second Season of Milo Ventimiglia Original Series 'Chosen'

Milo Ventimiglia in 'Chosen' Crackle
Netflix has "House of Cards" and "Hemlock Grove," Hulu has Richard Linklater's "Up to Speed" and the upcoming Seth Meyers animated series "The Awesomes," and Amazon just added a potential "Zombieland" series to its greenlit pilot slate. And though smaller in scale and in attention paid, Crackle has its own original series too -- "Chosen," a scripted thriller of which the company has just ordered a second season.

"Chosen" stars Milo Ventimiglia and is the creation of Ben Ketai ("30 Days of Night: Dark Days") and Ryan Lewis (co-producer of "Fat Kid Rules the World"), with Ketai also writing and directing the series. The first season, which premiered in full on Crackle on January 17 of this year and will be available until mid May, was made up of six half-hour episodes, and had Ventimiglia playing Ian Mitchell, a divorced defense lawyer and father of a little girl who discovers a gun on his doorstep one morning, along with the photo of a stranger he's told he has to kill in the next three days, and is instantly plunged into a secret, dangerous game.

"'Chosen' confirms our belief that there is a strong appetite for compelling, high-quality original series in the digital space," said Sony Pictures Television's Eric Berger in the announcement (Crackle is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment). "Whether it was online, on mobile or through a connected TV device, our audience spent a significant amount of time with the show, following it through to its conclusion. We are excited to announce that we are moving forward with a second season."

The second season of "Chosen" will begin production in the summer of this year. The first season of “Chosen" registered 2.4 million streams in less than 10 weeks, with half of the viewers who watched the first episode watching all six.

6 episodes that last 23 mins? this is more like a long movie than a "series"

Great series!!! It was extremely well done: great performances, good soundtrack, and amazing direction. I like the intensity and the fact that is not full of fillers and subplots like regular series.

Couldn't believe this was a web series. Fantastic acting across the board; can't wait for the next season.

A second season? Are you kidding me? This was the worst piece of s#$t show I have ever seen. How I got through the 6 episodes still remains a mystery. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
