Ari Gold won the topgraduate award for "Helicopter," while Anthony Ng took the big prize for his undergraduate movie, "..." (dot dot dot). Gold also won the graduatedirecting award for "Helicopter," which screened at Sundance this year,while the undergraduate directing prize went to Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo's"Pate," another Sundance film. Ng won the outstanding writing award for hisundergraduate film and Bridget Bedard took the graduate writing award for"Baby," yet another Sundance film.Serguei Bassine was the winner of the graduate New York Magazine Award for Excellence for "Because of Mama," while the Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo won the undergraduate New York Magazine Award for Excellence.The second graduate prize went to Serguei Bassine's "Because of Mama" andthe 2nd undergraduate prize went to Eric Rolnick's "The Truce." (indieWIRE/04.10.01) -- NYU's Kanbar Institute of Film and Television
presented its annual awards on Sunday night at Lincoln Center as the
school's First Run Film Festival came to a close. Ari Gold won the top
graduate award for "Helicopter," while Anthony Ng took the big prize for his undergraduate movie, "..." (dot dot dot). Gold also won the graduate
directing award for "Helicopter," which screened at Sundance this year,
while the undergraduate directing prize went to Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo's

>> Showtime Seeking Latino Shorts


(indieWIRE/04.10.01) -- Showtime and Si TV have announced the call for
entries for the second annual Latino Filmmaker Showcase, with the winner
receiving $30,000 to be used in the creation of a short film that will air
on Showtime.


Currently accepting entries through the end of the month, Showtime is
calling for submissions of 15-30 minute short films. Up to five movies will
debut on Showtime in September during Hispanic Heritage Month.


"We are truly proud of this program," commented Pancho Mansfield, Showtime's
Sr. VP of Development, Original Programming in a prepared statement, "There
is an abundance of Latino talent out there. With this program, aspiring
Latino filmmakers get an introduction to the network development process and
Showtime gets the opportunity to forge relationships with the new filmmakers
of tomorrow."
