(indieWIRE/6.12.00) -- A spate of dotcom news dominates the headlines this
morning, despite fears that next-generation entertainment faces tough-going
in light of the recent death of DEN and reports of delays at POP.com.

Today, sputnik7.com will unveil a slate of newly-acquired films, officially
kicking off its new "film-on-demand channel." The news comes as a direct
outgrowth of sputnik7.com's announcement of a long-term strategic
partnership with RES Media Group (producers of the popular RES Fest tour and
publishers of RES Magazine).

The RES group are a key element in sputnik's acquisition strategy which is
headed by David Koh. the site signs films for online distribution via
sputnik7.com, theatrical release through Palm Pictures and DVD & VHS
distribution Palm Pictures' Ryko Distribution.

"Emerging filmmakers need an alternative forum for presenting their work and
sputnik7.com is the ideal partner for providing these types of unique
opportunities," commented Jonathan Wells, RESFEST Festival Director, in a

The new film channel, which launches today, will offer an acclaimed roster of

and "Bored Movie Project," "Alfred" and "Safety Man" by Rodney Ascher, "Max"
by AWOL, "The Smell of Horror" by Mitch Butler, "Golden Shoes" by Adam
Gravois, "Ground" and "This Side Out" by James Kenney, "Orpheus" by Rick
Morris and Rebeca Mendez, "Naked Pavement" by Joshua Tunick, "Cirkus" by
Herman Weeb, "Green Sounds in the Subway" by Eunmi Yang and "Snack and
Drink
" by Bob Sabiston and Tommy Pallotta. Sabiston and Pallotta's
"Roadhead" will debut on sputnik7 later this summer when the site will

Chairman Joe Roth has become a majority shareholder in the site. As part of
