by indieWIRE

The Dallas/Fort Worth Film Critics Association have named the winners of
their Lone Star Film and Television Awards, and Christopher Guest's
"Waiting For Guffman" (Sony Pictures Classics), was the winner for best
picture. The awards are voted on by the 38 critics and entertainment
writers that make up the association and only films and television
programs shot in Texas and released in the previous year. Another Sony
Classics film will receive honors when the awards are handed out in
Dallas on March 15th, as Dan Ireland's "The Whole Wide World" nabbed two
awards, one for Michael Scott Myers' script, and another for Vincent
D'Onofrio for best actor. The best supporting actress award went to
Ashley Judd for her role in the hardly-seen "The Locusts," while Warner
Brothers' "Selena" took home prizes for Jennifer Lopez for best actress
and Edward James Olmos for best supporting actor. The documentary award
went to Sweet Home Pictures for Peter Meyer's "Can't You Hear the Wind
Howl?
" a documentary about Delta Blues master Robert Johnson.
