With his performance in "Kill Your Darlings" currently garnering acclaim in theaters, Daniel Radcliffe is set to move another step further away from type-casting associations with "Harry Potter," as he is set to take on the role of British Olympic athlete Sebastian Coe in "Gold." The film, which sees Radcliffe re-teaming with director James Watkins after their 2012 horror outing "The Woman in Black," will follow Coe's athletic career and well-documented rivalry with fellow Olympian Steve Ovett leading up to the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.
Based on Pat Butcher's biography "The Perfect Distance" and developed by BBC Films and the British Film Institute in conjunction with AL Films, "Gold" will begin shooting next spring. The casting of Steve Ovett has not yet been announced.
