The trailer for Guy Moshe's "Bunraku" doesn't provide much context for its title, but visually it translates to an even lower-budget "Sin City," which isn't necessarily something the world needs or wants.
The film received pretty negative notices at last year's Toronto International Film Festival where it world premiered (matters didn't improve much at Fantastic Fest) and now we're kind of seeing why.
The action-packed two minutes lays out the basic plot: A drifter (Josh Hartnett) teams up with a bartender (Woody Harrelson) and samurai (Japanese pop star Gackt) to plot against Nicola the Woodcutter, a crime lord with an army of killers.
The whole thing looks like a hot mess, albeit a very colorful one. The one highlight amidst all the fighting and bad CGI: Demi Moore making out with Ron Perlman. Now that's something we never thought we'd see.
"Bunraku" hits theaters September 30 through ARC Entertainment.

Like watching a bad kill bill set in Dr.Seuss mind but the Grinch stole any trace of a plot. I hoped at some point it would get better but sadly no...
