Friday marked the preview launch of RES, a new magazine
focusing on the world of digital filmmaking. With four articles, including
one by director Rob Nilsson who won the Camera d'Or at Cannes with "Northern Lights", the preview issue gives a brisk and interesting taste of what's to
come, and with the premiere at this year's fest of "Love God", the first
digitally shot feature film, RES is aiming to chronicle this new medium.
The co-editorial directors of RES are both worthy candidates to follow and
report on the digital film world-Jonathan Wells is the San Francisco based
co-founder of the Low Res film festival, and Karol Martesko is the publisher
of FILMMAKER Magazine which has been online since 1994. The first newsstand
issue will be dated Spring '97.
