The film, written and starring Master P, is described as a comedyof a couple of cellular phone scammers who try to become the "first cellphone CEO's in the 'hood." Michael Cole, VP of Acquisitions and StrategicPlanning, and Robert Kessel, Director of Acquisitions brought the projectto Dimension.Master P's first film, the semi-autobiographical "I'm 'Bout It", hasreportedly sold 250,000 copies in a direct-to-video release. "I Got theHookup" was produced through Master P's record label No Limit Films andPriority Films. Rumors that the 27-year-old rapper from New Orleans wouldresign from the successful label were confirmed when he announced hisretirement after the release of his last album "The Last Don".
