Dimension's "Got the Hookup"

by Mike Jones

Representing Dimension Film's "commitment to bringing quality urban film
entertainment to moviegoers worldwide" Bob and Harvey Weinstein announced
the acquisition of Michael Martin and rap artist Master P's "I Got the
Hookup
". The film, written and starring Master P, is described as a comedy
of a couple of cellular phone scammers who try to become the "first cell
phone CEO's in the 'hood." Michael Cole, VP of Acquisitions and Strategic
Planning, and Robert Kessel, Director of Acquisitions brought the project
to Dimension.

Master P's first film, the semi-autobiographical "I'm 'Bout It", has
reportedly sold 250,000 copies in a direct-to-video release. "I Got the
Hookup" was produced through Master P's record label No Limit Films and
Priority Films. Rumors that the 27-year-old rapper from New Orleans would
resign from the successful label were confirmed when he announced his
retirement after the release of his last album "The Last Don".
