Founded in 2001, Magnolia Pictures, which includes Home Entertainment, International Sales and the genre label Magnet Releasing, is a worldwide distributor and producer of feature length content. It is the main distribution arm of the Wagner/Cuban Companies, a vertically integrated group of media properties co-owned by Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban that also include the Landmark Theatres chain, the production company 2929 Productions and high definition cable networks HDNet and HDNet Movies.

Advice for filmmakers:
Know your distributor inside and out. Peruse their website. Read as many trade articles about them as possible. Screen their biggest hits and recent releases. Understand who the personnel is. Get references from filmmakers, producers, sales reps who have worked work them. Make sure they pay on time and have been doing so for more than five years. If they haven’t been around for more than five years, make sure they have a realistic plan to survive. Finally, ask distributors about one another. It'll generate a fascinating list of questions and critiques.
