The Canadian distribution rights to Sophie Barthes' "Cold Souls" have been acquired by E1 Films Canada. Starring Paul Giamatti, Emily Watson and David Strathairn, "Souls" will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where it is screening in the U.S. Dramatic Competition.
"E1 Films is the perfect home for 'Cold Souls' in Canada,” said the film's producer Paul Mezey. “Their overwhelming enthusiasm for the film and unequivocal commitment to bring it to a wide audience leaves no doubt this is the right fit."
Added Brian Gliserman, co-president of E1 Films, “The filmmakers have crafted a fiercely original work that will resonate with critics and audiences alike. E1 is extremely proud to be associated with 'Cold Souls.'”
The Canadian rights were acquired from Cinetic Media. The deal was negotiated by John Hamilton and Richard Rapkowski.
