Ellen DeGeneres To Host 86th Academy Awards

TV funny gal Ellen DeGeneres will be hosting the 86th Academy Awards, the Academy announced today. This will be DeGeneres' second foray into Oscar hosting, her first being the 79th Awards back in 2007, for which she was nominated for and Emmy for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.

TV funny gal Ellen DeGeneres will be hosting the 86th Academy Awards, the Academy announced today. This will be DeGeneres' second foray into Oscar hosting, her first being the 79th Awards back in 2007, for which she was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.

"I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time. You know what they say - the third time's the charm," said DeGeneres in a statement.

The Academy Awards are being executive produced for the second year in a row by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.

"We are thrilled to have Ellen DeGeneres host the Oscars," said Zadan and Meron. "There are few stars today who have Ellen's gift for comedy, with her great warmth and humanity."

The 86th Oscars will take place on March 2, 2014 and air on ABC.
