It's quite the time to be a cinephile in the tristate area. By the end of this month, New York City will have a brand new indie movie theater thanks to Metrograph, and now, thanks to the co-op distribution brand Indie Street, New Jersey will be getting a brand new independent film festival come July.
The inaugural Indie Street Film Festival is set to take place July 6-10 in multiple venues across Red Bank, New Jersey. The leading sponsor will be the Count Basie Theatre. The festival is being curated by veteran organizers of the Hamptons International Film Festival, the Savannah Film Festival, First Time Fest and NewFest, among many others, and is looking for entries that "maintain the grit and hard-working attitude that both New Jersians and Independent filmmakers have shared for decades."
Submissions for the event are now open through WithoutaBox and FilmFreeway. Programmers are looking for Narrative Features, Documentaries and Short Films (narrative, documentary and animation) that highlight "innovative storytelling and quality production value, in spite of restrictive budgets."
