We are rapidly approaching the July 5th release of the star-studded Sundance smash "The Way, Way Back," and if April's trailer wasn't enough for you, we've got new exclusive photos to help hold you over until then.

Scooped up by Fox Searchlight for a plum $10 million, the indie starring Steve Carell and Toni Collette undoubtedly hopes to become the 2013 version of 2006 Sundance favorite "Little Miss Sunshine." It's got the same distributor, two of the same leads, a similar summer release date, a similarly impressive ensemble cast, and its story focuses around a family supporting the dreams of a child. These factors had to factor into Fox Searchlight's decision to pony up all that dough.

"The Way, Way Back" tells the story of Duncan, a teenager who becomes friends with a water park manager during his summer break. Liam James plays Duncan while Sam Rockwell handles manager detail. Toni Collette plays Duncan's mom, Pam, and -- in perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the trailer -- Steve Carell is Pam's overbearing boyfriend, Trent. While Carell has taken a few stabs at dramatic roles before, he's never played an (intentionally) unlikable character in a film. While most of the buzz surrounding "Little Miss Sunshine" was for the ensemble, Carell did earn some awards attention, and his leading role in Bennett Miller's "Foxcatcher" as a paranoid schizophrenic has him ranked fifth in Indiewire's early Oscar predictions. Could this be another step towards the Dolby for Carell?

We won't know for sure until July 5, but see if you can glean some guesses from these new photos.
