Ahead of its new August 16 release date (it was previously slated to bow in October), The Weinstein Company has unveiled the poster for their Oscar hopeful drama "The Butler."
The film is a biopic of Eugene Allen (Forest Whitaker), a White House butler who served under eight presidents including John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, over the course of 30 years. "The Butler" has a huge cast of established talents, including Oprah Winfrey, John Cusack, Jane Fonda, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Terrence Howard, Lenny Kravitz, James Marsden, David Oyelowo, Vanessa Redgrave, Alan Rickman, Liev Schrieber, Robin Williams, and Clarence Williams III.
The artful poster features Whitaker gazing out the window of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, white-gloved hands folded behind him, overlooking a sea of protesters. With a cast featuring some of the most critically acclaimed actors in Hollywood and directed by Lee Daniels (of "Precious" fame), the historical drama is sure to garner attention during awards season. "The Butler" hits theaters August 16.
