After making considerable noise at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, "Southbound" is sure to illicit screams from the public when it is released in theaters on February 5 and iTunes and VOD on February 9.

To drum up some terrifying anticipation, Indiewire is excited to debut the first seven minutes of the buzzed-about indie horror flick. Equal parts eerie and uncomfortable, the film's opening sparks curiosity about what is to come of the characters and their scary situation.

The official synopsis reads: "On a desolate stretch of desert highway, weary travelers—two men on the run from their past, a band on their way to the next gig, a man struggling to get home, a brother in search of his long-lost sister and a family on vacation—are forced to confront their worst fears and darkest secrets in these interwoven tales of terror and remorse on the open road."

The film is the latest horror experiment from the producers of the wildly successful "V/H/S" anthology series. Watch the first seven minutes of "Southbound" below.
