Film Movement has acquired "The Deflowering of Eva Van End," the debut feature from Dutch director Michiel ten Horn. The film, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, will receive a New York theatrical and VOD release in the second quarter of 2013, with a limited release roll-out to follow. It is currently still making stops on the festival circuit.

While drawing comparisons to the darkly comedic tone of Todd Solondz's "Welcome to the Dollhouse," ten Horn's "absurdist satire" tells the story of a dysfunctional family that is forced to come to terms with its strange fixations during a two-week visit by a foreign exchange student.

“This is hands down one of the funniest films we have seen in a long time, and ten Horn manages the highly desirable, but seldom achieved, goal of making the audience care about his characters while laughing both with them and at them. We are thrilled to be introducing this new talent to the North American public,” said Film Movement VP of acquisitions and distribution Rebeca Conget.

Film Movement is currently in theaters with Mads Matthiesen's Sundance drama "Teddy Bear."
