The theaters reopened with their regularly scheduled programming, only a day after Hurricane Sandy, eager to join the cause. Boxes were placed in the lobby of the Elinor Bunin Monroe Center asking people to donate what they could for the relief efforts in Far Rockaway, promising to deliver the donations personally. More information on this program can be found on the Society's website.
In addition, the Society will be holding a blood drive Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 10am to 4pm, to bolster the city's low blood supply in preparation for the forthcoming cold weather. More information on that can also be found on its website.
The Film Society's efforts to spread awareness about Sandy are complemented by previously reported events planned by the reRun Theater in Dumbo, Brooklyn, and the Cinemonde Soiree.
