Film Independent Forum Kicks off with "Like Crazy"; Hosts TV, FIlm & Media Panelists at DGA

Drake Doremus' "Like Crazy"; stars Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones

The 7th annual Film Independent Forum announces its opening night selection--Drake Doremus' "Like Crazy"--and panelists, including Jeremy Podeswa ("Boardwalk Empire" & "The Pacific"), Patty Jenkins ("The Killing"), and Azazel Jacobs ("Terri"). The Forum, presented by indieWIRE, will take place at the Directors Guild of America October 21-23. The 2011 keynote speaker and additional panelists will be announced shortly.

The "Like Crazy" opening night screening will be followed by a Q & A with the film's writer (Ben York Jones), producers (Jonathan Schwartz and Andrea Sperling), editor (Jonathan Alberts) and cinematographer (John Guleserian). A synopsis for the film (which will be released October 28) is below.

Film Independent's director of film education, Maria Bozzi, says; "We’re also excited to introduce panels on television this year, and include even more discussions about new media. Filmmakers are breaking the boundaries between different formats and it’s important to remind our attendees that storytelling through the moving image can be powerful in any medium.”

"Like Crazy," from director Drake Doremus, beautifully illustrates how your first real love is as thrilling and blissful as it is devastating, and explores how a couple faces the real challenges of being together and of being apart. When a British college student (Felicity Jones) falls for her American classmate (Anton Yelchin), they embark on a passionate and life-changing journey only to be separated when she violates the terms of her visa.
