Fortissimo Closes Deal For Kore-eda's "Doll"

Fortissimo Films today announced a completed deal with Ocean Films who have secured all rights within France to the multi-million dollar Japanese production "Air Doll" (Kuki Ningyu)." Fortissimo is handling worldwide sales outside Japan to Hirokazu Kore-eda directed film.

Fortissimo Films today announced a completed deal with Ocean Films who have secured all rights within France to the multi-million dollar Japanese production "Air Doll" (Kuki Ningyu)." Fortissimo is handling worldwide sales outside Japan to Hirokazu Kore-eda directed film.

Based on the original Japanese graphic novel, "The Pneumatic Figure of a Girl," by Gouda Yoshiie, "Air Doll" is written and directed by Kore-eda, and features Bae Doona, Arata, Itao Itsuji, Yo Kimiko, and Odargiri Joe. The deal was brokered between Fortissimo's Co-Chairman Michael J. Werner and Ocean Films' Managing Director Eric Heumann.

On making the announcement Werner commented, "We are incredibly pleased to announce a French deal for this wonderful film prior to this year's Cannes Film Festival. Oceans' top quality library reflects our confidence and belief in this film and its talented director. Ocean Films are the perfect choice to bring this film to the French public and we are confident they will give it the attention and support it deserves."
