Fox Renews 'The Mindy Project,' 'New Girl,' 'Raising Hope' and, Yes, 'The Following'

'The Mindy Project,' 'New Girl' and 'Raising Hope' Fox
Freshman sitcom "Ben and Kate" already got the snip, but Fox has handled renewals to its three other live action comedies, "The Mindy Project," "New Girl" and "Raising Hope." That means a second season for Mindy Kaling's "The Mindy Project," which premiered this fall, a third for Elizabeth Meriwether's "New Girl" and a fourth for Greg Garcia's "Raising Hope." Of the three, "New Girl" is the only inarguable ratings success, but we're particularly pleased to see "The Mindy Project" get more time, as the show seems to still be honing its voice.

"We love working with these talented producers and casts who, week after week, create some of the funniest work on television," said Fox's Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly. "These shows are creatively vibrant, they have established a loyal and passionate audience and they will continue to define and grow the Fox comedy brand next season and beyond."

Also getting another season is Fox's less overtly amusing (but audience-attracting!) serial killer drama "The Following," starring Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy. Reilly did not argue for the funniness of the murdery murder show, created by Kevin Williamson, but allowed that it was "a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding." "The Following" premiered as a mid-season replacement on January 21.

That’s great news hearing FOX will renew The Following which’s one of my favorite primetime shows this season. I record The Following and some of my other primetime favorites using the PrimeTime Anytime feature in my DISH Hopper DVR. Once enabled this will record the 4 major networks during primetime hours on one TV. That works perfect for me since I work the night shift at DISH and I can’t be home to watch or constantly fight my timers. I’ve been able to make everyone happy at home now that I don’t have all the DVRs tied up which lets everyone enjoy more TV.
