Gen Art Fest Closes with "Gold" Taking Honors

The revitalized Gen Art Film Festival capped its 16th annual event Tuesday night, awarding Tucker Capps and Ryan Sevy’s documentary "Goold’s Gold" the Grand Jury prize for Best Feature, while Best Short went to Craig MacNeill's Henley," during a ceremony at New York City nightspot Hiro.

Gen Art Co-Presidents Jeffrey Abramson and Elizabeth Shaffer, Gen Art Director of Programming Aaron Levine, and Jurors Erik Davis and Anne Carey announced the festival winners.

Rachel Boston ("The Pill") received the most talented emerging actor nod, while "The "Pill" by J.C. Khoury and Jennifer Suhr's "Saeng-Il (Birthday)" won Gen Art's Audience Award, taking home Kodak Playtouch cameras.

"The feedback we received on this year’s selection of films has far exceeded any years past. Audiences are excited to engage with smaller films and to become their champions," said Abramson in a statement. "And it is so exciting to see our feature awards go to two films that are just coming out of the gate!"

"We couldn't be happier with the support from our partners who went above and beyond to ensure our talent and guests had an incredible time," added Shaffer. "We couldn’t imagine a better kick-off to a new season of programming."

"A Beginner's Guide to Endings," directed by Jonathan Sobol and featuring Scott Caan, J.K. Simmons, Tricia Helfer, Jason Jones, Paulo Costanzo and Harvey Keitel, opened the festival on June 8th at the Ziegfeld Theatre in Manhattan. The remaining films included Victoria Mahoney's "Yelling to the Sky," Jonathan Segal's "Norman," Tucker Capps and Ryan Sevy's "Goold's Gold," J.C. Khoury's "The Pill," Matt D'Elia's "American Animal," and George Ratfliff's "Salvation Boulevard."

George Ratliff's "Salvation Boulevard" with Jennifer Connelly, Isabelle Fuhrman, Marisa Tomei, Pierce Brosnan and Ed Harris screened as the closing night film Tuesday.
