by S.T. VanAirsdale
New distribution company GeoQuest Entertainment Group has acquired the rights to its first theatrical release, Danae Elon's acclaimed documentary, "Another Road Home."
Produced by Qi film, "Another Road Home" tells the story of the Israeli Elon's efforts to re-establish her ties to her childhood caretaker, a Muslim Palestinian. GeoQuest founder and president Alex Cyrell said in a statement that his company is eager to acquire films that possess the potential to influence positive change in the world.
"Our mandate is to seek out films in all genres that provide unique elements in both content and form that can induce passion and touch the emotions of core audiences," Cyrell said.
Cyrell added that GeoQuest intends to utilize traditional distribution methods as well as new media resources to reach new markets and extend the films' times in the public eye.
Elon's first documentary, 1995's "Never Again, Forever," won awards at the San Francisco and Chicago Film Festivals. GeoQuest acquired "Another Road Home" after a well-received screening at the 2004 Los Angeles Film Festival, said the company's director of acquisitions Donna Tina Charles.
Jan RofeKamp and Diana Holtzberg of Films Transit International brokered the acquisition for Qi film and GeoQuest.
