GLAAD-Flamed "Ticked-Off Trannies" to Debut on Showtime July 2

Israel Luna's low-budget horror film "Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives" will make its US television debut on Showtime July 2, 2011. The film was the subject of a GLAAD-sponsored protest that encouraged the Tribeca Film Festival to pull the film from its 2010 lineup, and according to an indieWIRE interview with the director, the communication between the director and GLAAD was inconsistent. The protest was unsuccessful and the film went on to play several horror and LGBT film festivals around the world.

The filmmakers responded to the recent shakeup in the GLAAD leadership (eight board members resigned after their alleged allegiance to AT&T and anti-net neutrality policies caused concern).

The film tells the revenge stories of several transgender women who are beat up and left for dead and is Luna's sixth feature.
