Glucksman New Head of First Look Series
by Mark Rabinowitz
Mary S. Glucksman has been tapped to be the new director of the five year-old First
Look screening series, effective immediately. Set to begin its sixth season on
December 9th in New York and December 15th in L.A., First Look was founded in 1992
by Tribeca and Kodak as a joint venture aimed at giving up-and-coming feature
directors an opportunity to screen their films for the indie community.
In the past five years, First Look has "discovered" such films as "Party Girl", "Denise Calls Up" and current fest hit, "Sparkler", while Ms. Glucksman
has spent the past five years at FILMMAKER Magazine as the writer of the
Production Update section. First Look screens in New York at the
Tribeca Film Center on the second Tuesday of each month and in L.A. on the
following Monday at Kodak's west coast facility.
