HBO's favorite troublemaker Bill Maher, whose "Real Time with Bill Maher" is about to enter its 12th season, has been confirmed for a 13th.
"Bill Maher has been a treasured member of the HBO family since the late '80s, and his irreverent wit and fearless insights make him the perfect observer for these unpredictable times," HBO President Michael Lombardo said. "I'm delighted that we can continue to offer an uncensored forum for his original and thoughtful humor."
Maher tackled his first special for the network in 1989 and has received Emmy nominations for every season of "Real Time" since 2005. The show, which consists of an opening monologue, a roundtable discussion with panelists and interviews with special guests has received an average of 4.1 million viewers per show, making it one of the network's most successful.
The 12th season of "Real Time with Bill Maher" begins Friday Jan. 17 from 10:00-11:00 ET.
HBO recently set premiere dates for "Game of Thrones" and "Veep."
